Your baby at 8 weeks
Tiny fingers and toes are starting to form, still webbed. The embryo has begun to make small, spontaneous movements you can’t feel yet. Eyelids, the tip of the nose and the upper lip are taking shape, and the heart has divided into chambers.

Your uterus is about the size of a small orange. You may notice vivid dreams, light-headedness and a need to loosen your waistband.

Contact your doctor or go to hospital straight away if you notice:
- Heavy vaginal bleeding or passing clots
- Severe or one-sided abdominal pain, shoulder-tip pain or fainting (possible ectopic pregnancy)
- Vomiting so severe you can’t keep fluids down
- Fever above 38 °C or burning urination
