Overview
In month 8 your baby is mostly putting on weight and fine-tuning the lungs and brain. It’s time to finalise plans for birth and for the weeks afterwards.
Your baby this month
Your baby grows to about 46 cm and 2.4 kg. Nails are complete, most babies turn head-down, and antibodies pass from you to your baby. The skull bones stay soft so the head can mould during birth.
Your body this month
Rib pain, breathlessness, pelvic pressure, poor sleep and swelling are common. In first pregnancies the baby may ‘drop’ towards the end of this month.
