Local tips for expectant parents
- Travel time matters more than distance – check how long it takes to reach your hospital at peak hours and during the monsoon, when roads and trains are often disrupted.
- Many families choose a doctor near home for check-ups and a hospital along the same railway line for delivery.
- If you commute by local train in pregnancy, travel off-peak where possible and use the ladies’ compartment.

Choosing where to have your baby
Your doctor and your hospital usually go together, so think about both at once.
