Third trimester! The eyes open and close, and eyelashes have grown. The brain is adding billions of neurons. Babies born at this stage have a good chance of survival with neonatal intensive care.

Check-ups now usually happen every 2 weeks. You may feel breathless and need to urinate often again as the baby grows.

- Start paying daily attention to movements. Your doctor may suggest a method, such as noting the time taken to feel 10 movements.
- A growth scan is often done between 28 and 32 weeks.
- Anti-D injection if you’re Rh-negative.

When to call your doctor
Contact your doctor or go to hospital straight away if you notice:
- Reduced or changed baby movements
- Waters breaking or any bleeding
- Severe headache, vision changes, pain under the ribs
- Regular painful contractions before 37 weeks
- Severe itching of palms and soles
